Having worked in Sport and Exercise development for the last 15 yrs, I joined Team Beds and Luton to manage the Sportivate programme in September 2011. Graduating from Birmingham University, it was while working on the Allied Dunbar National Fitness programme as part of her MPhil, that initiated my interests in health related aspects of exercise and the benefits sport has on fitness & well being. Health Promotion and the reduction of coronary heart disease was a specific interest and I was lucky enough to pursue this during my employment with Bedfordshire and Buckingham Health Promotion Units. As a keen advocate of the Sport for All concept, much of my work to date has been centred around creating greater opportunity for disadvantaged groups to access and enjoy participating in sport. Recent work over the last 18 months has enable me to secured over £25K for disabled young people to access sport and dance in Leighton Buzzard area. One of the main aims of the work on the Sportivate Programme is to ensure that all social groups and abilities get access to the opportunities available.
