Terms of Reference

Bedfordshire and Luton Rising to the Challenge of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

(These ToRs were formally adopted by the BOOST Over-Arching Group at their meeting on 4 December 2006)

1.  Overarching Objectives

1.1 BOOST has been established:

(a)   To achieve maximum benefit for the Bedfordshire and Luton Sub-Region from the 2012 Games (throughout this document and in related documents the term “2012 Games” will refer to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games);
(b)   To secure a lasting legacy and
(c)   To contribute to Regional and National 2012 Games agendas in an effort to ensure the best outcomes for the 2012 Games.

1.2 We will look to tailor our activities to complement the LOCOG over-arching objectives for the 2012 Games:

(a) To inspire young people;
(b) To encourage economic regeneration; and
(c) To maximise social and cultural opportunities.

1.3 Our measurement of success will be for BOOST to secure:

(a) Host status for at least one national sports team; and/or
(b) Host status for at least one national paralympic sports team; and/or
(c) At least one Olympic/Paralympic training facility

1.4 These Objectives and Terms of Reference for BOOST may be adjusted by any further activities that BOOST consider  necessary to deliver its identified outcomes.
