Podium Business Opportunities Plan (BOP)

Podium has secured core operational funding from both HEFCE and the LSC until July 31st 2009.  Podium will continue to work with the FE and HE sectors on their contribution to the staging of a successful 2012 Games and a lasting legacy.  A major part of the Unit’s work over the past year has been to produce this BOP, the formulation of which involved large numbers of people from both sectors and a number of key stakeholders.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who contributed to this process, particularly the Action Group hosts.

The aims of the BOP

1. to assess the previous and planned activity of the sectors and to understand where the sectors can build on their considerable areas of expertise.
2. to address the potential challenges in delivering on the key themes of public sector and Olympic agencies’ plans and strategies which include: creating a lasting legacy, involving and engaging young people and improving skills.
3. to identify potential projects that could be taken forward subject to specific funding.
4. to consult with the sectors on the key priorities and functions of the Podium Unit going forward to July 2009.

We are keen to get your input on how the BOP project proposals can best be developed into fundable projects to be taken forward either by Podium, or by other relevant organisations or consortia.  We are aware that any potential projects must be those of greatest significance to the sectors and consequently we would welcome your response to the six questions on page two of the BOP by June 30th 2008 (please contact charlotte@podium.ac.uk for this form in word format).  Your participation in this analysis is vital in ensuring that the future focus of our organisation is in tune with the requirements of your institution and the sectors as a whole.
