The programme has also been designed to accommodate an early evening finish to encourage participation from across the spectrum. All events are also open to wheelchair users.
“On Track 4 Gold” is a project created by Nubian Jak Community Trust to support public engagement with the opportunities afforded under London 2012. This current project -- “Open Up: Ability” is part of a continuing programme of activities.
Jak.Bubeula-Dodd, Chair and Founder of “On Track 4 Gold” said: “Because Luton is such a rich town of diverse people and cultures this was a major factor in hosting the project in this part of Bedfordshire. The fact that we can now embrace diversity in its truest sense – through disability, race, faith, gender and so on – with “Open Up: Ability” makes for a more inclusive project for the benefit of all. We’re looking forward to hosting a great weekend of events.”
The Bedfordshire based Cultural Olympiad Open Up Weekend events are hosted by Nubian Jak Community Trust to provide a commissioned dance activity for BOOST, supported by Diversity Arts Incubation Programme, Luton Cultural Services Trust, Street Dance Productions and the UK Centre for Carnival Arts. A local social enterprise, Eventaprise, will aid with event management and with audience participation from disability groups.
Full programme details are available on the Luton Cultural Services Trust website and can be emailed by writing to info@ontrack4gold.com.
