Launch of the Open Weekend in the Nations and Regions
The nations and regions of the UK will celebrate the launch of Open Weekend simultaneously through a series of events on Friday 24 July 2009. The event in the East of England - ‘Real Stories, Real Benefits’ - will celebrate current local activity across the region and will promote events taking place as part of Open Weekend which for the first time include sport, learning, enterprise and environment, as well as culture, and aims to be the biggest 2012 Games inspired activity in 2009.
Real Stories and Real Benefits will showcase individuals that are already benefitting from Games related programmes in the East. Delegates will be inspired by cultural performance, sporting demonstration and motivating real stories. There will also be the opportunity to share best practice, discuss legacy ambition and learn more about the London 2012 Inspire Mark programme.
The event will be the official launch of the refreshed Nations and Regions East strategy taking the partnership through to 2012 and beyond.
