Luton
access2sport
access2Sport is a pan disability sports project taking place in Luton aimed at increasing the participation of youngsters ranging in age from 5 to 18 years old through the provision of a number of disability specific activity sessions.
The project aims to address some of the barriers faced by young people with disabilities in accessing sport and physical activity opportunities. The project supports and develops many different sport and physical activity sessions across Luton including:
Swimming - beginners lessons for children and young people with any disability to learn to swim. Includes development sessions for swimmers to build their skills with a view to joining a swimming club linked to Luton and Dunstable Disabled Sports Association and Active Luton.
Ability Counts football - a programme in association with Luton Town Football in the Community and Luton School Sports Partnership providing out of school hours and holiday football opportunities for children with disabilities.
Multi Sport Clubs - providing an opportunity to try lots of different sports and develop skills in a supportive environment. These sessions are provided in conjunction with the School Sports Partnership and team BEDS&LUTON.
The project provides a central point for information and advice with regard to sport and physical activity for young people with disabilities in Luton.
We can also help community organisations, schools sports clubs and groups increase the sporting opportunities they offer to young people with disabilities and give information and advice about such things as inclusion and equipment.
