Minimum Operating Standards

The Bedfordshire and Luton County Sports Partnership have developed a local club accreditation scheme to recognise good clubs within the county that can achieve important criteria and show a commitment to child protection, equal opportunities and health and safety, whilst offering a quality experience to its membership. The award branded 'Minimum Operating Standards' (or MOS for short) is based on the Sport England Clubmark award which recognises excellent clubs. The idea is that clubs should use MOS as a stepping stone to work towards the Clubmark award for excellence.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to work towards Minimim Operating Standards accreditation your club should be a community sports club within a sport recognised by Sport England and/or a community sports club committed to work within the local community (e.g. forming a school-club link). To confirm your club's eligibility please contact team BEDS&LUTON. For a list of sports that are recognised by Sport England please click on the following link:

CRITERIA

There are three versions of the Minimum Operating Standards accreditation award. The three different versions have been designed to ensure that all sports clubs within the county can work towards accreditation. The three versions are as follows:

  1. MOS for clubs with junior sections (MOS1)
  2. MOS for adult only clubs (MOS2)
  3. MOS for multi sport / single sport disability clubs (MOS3)

Please contact team BEDS&LUTON if you wish to clarify which version your club should work towards.

MOS in brief......

  • A shortened version of Sport England's full Clubmark Accreditation
  • A countywide development scheme to help clubs work towards their full Clubmark accreditation in bite size pieces
  • Recognises clubs that follow good practice, fulfil important criteria and are 'safe' to recommend to people

6 steps to achieve the MOS accreditation......

  1. Clubs are identified or will identify themselves as candidates that can achieve this award and contact Madeleine at team BEDS&LUTON - 01582 813764 or madeleine@teambedsandluton.co.uk
  2. Clubs download the relevant MOS criteria form and any templates they require from this website.
  3. Clubs can access guidance and advice to fulfill the criteria from Madeleine at team BEDS&LUTON.
  4. Once clubs have fulfilled all the criteria they contact the team BEDS&LUTON office to submit the evidence and agree completion and issue of the award.
  5. On achieving the Minimum Operating Standards, clubs will receive a certificate as countywide recognition of being a high quality club.
  6. team BEDS&LUTON and Local Authorities will hold all accredited clubs on record and these clubs will be listed on the website. This in turn will improve a club's chance of increasing membership, attracting volunteers and forming school-club links and improve the support that team Beds&Luton can give.

The templates below are designed to assist clubs in producing the necessary documents required to achieve Minimum Operating Standards. Templates should be adapted to suit the needs of individual clubs.
