Community Sports Networks

The government has set a national target to increase participation in sport and physical activity in England by 1% annually. In order to maximise impact and efficiency in achieving this, Sport England, the strategic lead for sport in this country, has developed a ‘single system’ for the delivery of community sport, which is simple, systematic and joined up, overcoming areas of weakness that have been identified in the past.

County Sports Partnerships are at the heart of this single delivery system for community sport and should connect national policy makers (DCMS and Sport England) to local delivers (clubs, coaches and volunteers) and guide investment. CSPs must work closely with Community Sports Networks (CSNs) to unite those partners with an interest in sport at the local level - bridging the school to community transition, building strong partnerships and leveraging investment.

Bedfordshire and Luton are in the process of developing 4 Community Sports Networks, one in each Local Authority. Bedford and Luton have already established theirs and Mid and South Beds are well on the way to launching their own too.
