Action Plan 2006/7

SPORT BEDFORD ACTION PLAN

INTRODUCTION
Following the delivery of the agreed short term actions by Sport Bedford (2006/07 - during the initial months of the organisation) the group have now agreed on a concise and achievable 12 month plan for the future. The plan is based on a limited number of key actions that are achievable and beneficial to the wider community whilst at the same time building on specific work areas that are already being successfully implemented via the group and its member organisations.

LINKS TO THE COMMUNITY PLAN, THE LOCAL AREA AGREEMENT (LAA) & COUNTY SPORTS PARTNERSHIP DELIVERY PLAN
The action plan relates directly to the priorities that have already been identified via the extensive research and consultation for the “Borough Community Plan 2004 – 2010”. The Community Plan has been coordinated by the Bedford Partnership Board (the Local Strategic partnership for the borough) which has brought together representatives from the statutory, voluntary and business sectors in order to produce a long term vision for the borough and its diverse community. Key targets within the LAA are also included within the action plan to ensure a clear link between all the strategic documents and their outcomes. Sport Bedford has also clearly linked the actions within their 12 month plan to those key objectives within the new County Sports partnership plan.

KEY THEMES FOR ACTION
The over arching aim of the Bedford Borough Community Plan is “Working together to improve health and well being” an aim that clearly fits directly into the aims of Sport Bedford. The Community plan includes a number of key themes (Community Safety - Improving Health - Promoting Leisure - Including Everyone) that Sport Bedford can help deliver and the group have agreed that to help ensure the “golden thread” of continuity remains and to ensure that there is a delivery mechanism for key elements of the community plan; they will link their action plan to this core document.

The Sport Bedford action plan will be reviewed during and after the 12 month period and developed according to members input, the involvement of local partners and consultation. The key actions will all support the overarching aims of Sport Bedford and the County Sports partnership which remain as the need to increase participation in sport & physical activity in all areas of the community.

FINANCE
Each of the key actions in the plan indicates the total budget required for the initiative (including costed time). This total is then split into two columns. The first column indicates what the CSN (Sport Bedford) can contribute to the total and the second highlights the shortfall required from the CIF to enable the project to be delivered.

INCREASING PARTICIPATION & SUPPORTING CLUBS / COACHES / VOLUNTEERS
The Action Plan (under key actions) lists the main focus areas that are supported by each initiative to help indicate the contribution the plan will make to the Community Investment Fund aims for Community Sports Networkshis page is being updated
