Basketball News - 15 weeks on ...

player

Since the Get Back Into sessions started on the 16th January the programme has gone from strength to strength. Over fifty men have now participated in the programme, with a regular fifteen plus at each training session.

Players have ranged from those who have not played basketball since school some ten years ago, to those who are regular basketball players but use the sessions to gain some additional practice in a relaxed recreational environment. This has worked exceptionally well, with the more established players enjoying showing and teaching those looking to get back into the sport, and those who have not played for a while enjoying stepping up to the challenge of playing against some talented athletes.

The sessions are still going strong, and after 15 weeks the programme has far surpassed the 6 weeks for which it was proposed for. The intention now is to form a self-sustaining recreation club, “Bedford Lions” and get even more people back into playing basketball.
