BEGINNER AWARD UMPIRE COURSE INFORMATION DETAILS
AIM
• To introduce the rudiments of umpiring a Netball match at junior or inexperienced player level in club or school environment.
OUTCOME
• To have knowledge of basic rules of the game.
• To identify obvious infringements of the rules.
• To apply correct use of voice, whistle and terminology.
• To be aware of correct positioning.
• To keep an accurate scorecard and call the score.
• To identify the requirements for the EN Beginner Award.
• Prepare candidates for test.
Test – from course- candidates need to gain experience on proper match play and then apply to either be tested for the Beginner Award or to attend the Netball Europe ‘C’ Award course. ‘C’ AWARD UMPIRE COURSE INFORMATION DETAILS
AIM
• To prepare umpires with knowledge of rules and umpires competencies to umpire at average adult club level.
OUTCOMES
To be able to apply the rules and control the game by:
• Penalising correctly obvious infringements of the rules
• Correct use of the whistle, voice and terminology
• Positioning and movement
• Appearance and manner
• Keep a correct scorecard and call the score
To identify the requirements for the ‘C’ Award to include competencies to prepare candidates for test

‘B’ AWARD UMPIRE COURSE INFORMATION DETAILS
AIM
• To prepare ‘C’ umpires with knowledge of rules and umpires competencies to umpire at good club, county or national level.
OUTCOMES
• To be able to apply the rules and control the game by.
• Controlling a high proportion of infringements in their obvious line of vision and to demonstrate some ability to see and control faults in off-the-ball situations.
• Using accurate terminology, effective communication, together with sensible use of advantage.
• To identify the requirements for the ‘B’ award test.
• To prepare candidates for assessment and test.

‘A’ AWARD UMPIRE COURSE INFORMATION DETAILS
AIM
• To gain a clearer insight into technical aspects of umpiring, including rules interpretations.
• To develop their observations, concentration and communication skills including clearer insight into umpire protocols.
• To gain a clearer insight into technical aspects of umpiring, including rules interpretations on obstruction, contact, advantage and umpire protocols.
