National Schools

Competition for the National Schools Netball championships began in late September/ early October with school teams in each of the three age groups, Under 14, 16 and 19, taking part in local area rounds. Schools then progressed to the county rounds and the winners and runners up in each section will be converging on Hassenbrook School on Saturday 28th January 2012 for the Regional Finals.

This is the show piece event for East Region with 41 school teams taking part for the right to enter the National finals in March. At the Regional Round, specially trained talent scoutswill be on the look out for exceptional players who will be added to the National Talent programme for potential England players. As well as talent spotting players, use is made of the tournament to develop up and coming umpires who will be receiving mentoring from existing top flight umpires so helping to improve the standards in local leagues.

At the end of the day after 6 pool matches and a semi final, the East Champions and the runner up will go on to represent the East in the National Finals at the Basildon Sporting Village in Essex on 17th March.
