Young Leaders Camp 2011

Following the recent success of the first three Young Leaders Camps, Held annually since 2008, England Netball are again working with UK:Athletics and Gymnastics England to offer one hundred and fifty 16-19 year olds the opportunity to attend a four day residential camp, where you will get the chance to develop your leadership and volunteering skills alongside other netball leaders.

For those of you who have heard about the previous YLC events, you may know that the event has grown to be a great opportunity for young leaders to meet with likeminded individuals, make new friends, and learn new skills to help you when you are volunteering in clubs and schools. In fact, over 140 netball leaders have benefitted from the experience over the last three years, and we are keen for this to continue in 2011.

What is the Leaders Camp?

The camp returns to Bradfield College in Berkshire, and will run from Sunday 14th August – Wednesday 17th August 2011. Whilst at the camp, the young leaders will focus upon the development of leadership skills throughout sport, whilst participating in a range of practical and theory based sessions. This is a key aspect of the volunteer work that England Netball are involved in, and is designed to help you get more from your volunteering and leadership when you are back home.

The event is run by professional staff from the three sports, with a programme that offers a range of workshops, including club management, personal development planning, activity leadership, officiating and coaching and event management. There will also be time built in for relaxation and evening social activities, coordinated by trained staff.

England Netball is offering 50 of the most dedicated young volunteers from across the country, the opportunity to attend the camp completely FREE of charge (including all accommodation, workshops and meals). Attendees are required to transport themselves to the camp, however there may be the option to share transport with others. If it is felt appropriate, you may be able to get a contribution towards travelling costs from you Netball Club or County Association.

Who will be attending?

To be eligible to apply, you will need to meet the following criteria:

- 16-19 years old at the time of the camp
