PLAYING NETBALL...

Q - Where can I go to start playing netball again?
A -
If you feel ready to be part of a team or club contact your local Netball Development Officer. She should be able to point you towards the relevant leagues, clubs and teams in your area. If you have not played for a while and would prefer to ease yourself back in gently, contact the East Back to Netball Activator, who will be able to advise you where the closest Back to Netball session is taking place in your area.

Q- I haven’t played Netball since I was at school (20+ years ago).  Can I still attend a Back to Netball session?
A -
YES!!!! Back to Netball provides a gentle introduction to the sport for adult female players of any age. The emphasis of these sessions is on learning new skills and having fun playing netball with friends. Whether it is about rediscovering your sporting abilities or about getting active again, these sessions cater for all abilities. Click here for more about Back to Netball.

Q - What should I wear to a B2N session?
A
- Whatever you like! You don’t have to turn up in specific sports kit, just make sure you wear something comfortable and that you have suitable footwear, preferably trainers to prevent injury. If the sessions are outside, ensure that you wrap up warm.

Q - How long do B2N sessions last?
A -
Back to Netball sessions usually last for an hour to an hour and a half, and are initially set up for an 8-10 week period. These sessions are usually self sustainable so as long as participants and the coach want to continue, they can. If the sessions dont continue, the coach will let you know your options if you want to carry on playing.

BECOMING A COACH...

Q - I have been helping out with netball at my child's school and would really like to do a coaching qualification. What are my options?
A - There are three main levels of coaching qualification, Level 1 (Assistant Coach), Level 2 (Lead/Head Coach) and Level 3 (Advanced Coach). If you have very little experience of netball and/or coaching, you should start with your Level 1 qualification, however, if you feel confident in your ability, you can go bypass this, and book straight onto your Level 2. It is advisable that you ask a qualified Level 2 coach to observe you before making this decision. Level 1 courses run at least once a year in most counties across England, so you shouldn't have to travel far to access a course. Level 2 courses run less frequently unfortunately due to a lower demand, but you should be able to find a course within your region. Visit this link for details of Level 1, 2 and 3 courses.

Q- How do I book onto a coaching course?
A- Coaching courses are administrated centrally by England Netball not Netball East. Click here for more details.

Q - I am looking for some new skills and drills ideas, and to improve my coaching techniques. Are there any workshops or resources to help with this?
A -

On the Ball: Essential Ball Skills for Netball
On the Move: Essential Movement Skills for Netball
