Comberton NC - Volac Community Club of the Year runners up.
Members of Comberton Netball Club have been celebrating being voted runners up for the Volac Community Club of the Year at the Living Sport/Cambridge News Sports Awards Night on 10th November in St Ives Cambridgeshire.
Comberton has been running for 35 years and has nearly 100 members aged from 11 to over 60. The Club has a team in the East Region League and 5 other adult teams in local winter and summer leagues including a team in a back to netball social league. They also have a big youth and junior section with teams in the regional and local winter and summer leagues.
Comberton has also contributed a huge amount to the development of netball over the years and has provided coaches, umpires and administrators locally and regionally and everyone was really pleased to be recognised for their overall achievement.
Louella Hodgson Chair and Linda Swain Vice-Chair/Coaching Secretary represented the club at a four course dinner hosted by Living Sports and the Cambridge News and compered on the evening by Micky Quinn former Premier League footballer turned Newmarket racehorse trainer.
Louella and Linda both said what a wonderful evening they had had celebrating the success of Comberton in the company of so many other clubs and individuals who were committed to sport in the local area and they were also able to toast their recent reaccreditation as a Silver CAPs club at the same time!
