AOTTSL Policy
The Adults Other Than Teachers Supporting Learners (AOTTSL) policy was released in 2007 jointly between Bedfordshire County Council and Luton Borough Council. The guidelines within this document clarify the legal position and identify good practice in the use of AOTTSL in PE and School Sport.
There is a large number of schools across the Partnership who rely on the use of AOTTSL to help develop the experience of young people by offering a broad range of activities raising standards of performance in and outside of school sport.
The policy outlines the roles, responsibilities and levels of supervision appropriate for those working PE and school sport who are not teachers. It also addresses issues of recruitment and support once individuals are active within a school.
The benefits of this policy and its implementation within schools include;
- increasing the number of activities offered to children and young people whilst pushing towards the new '5 hour offer'.
