My role takes on 2 areas of development. The specific targets for each section are outlined below;
OSHL school
- To support schools in ensuring that their pupils gain maximum benefit from involvement in high quality Out of School Hours activities.
- Inform schools of any opportunities and initiatives that are available and quality assure the delivery of activities.
- Report the progress of pupils involved to the school.
- Ensure that the SSP's provision meets the needs of the children.
Summer term targets
- Continue with QA procedures for all activity.
- Evaluate current opportunities and consider programme for 2009-2010.
- Monitor communication procedures.
Leadership and Volunteering
- Support the delivery of Play Leader, Young Leader and Sports Leader training in our schools.
- Seek practical opportunities for our Leaders to further develop their skills.
- Research ways to reward our Leaders and involve them in high-profile events.
Summer term targets
- Establish and develop a hierarchy of leadership (cross-phase).
- Promote mentoring opportunities.
- Further develop roles of Young Ambassadors.
- Seek out further opportunities for leadership and volunteering.
- Assist in delivery and evaluation of Play Leader Training in lower schools.
- Involve the local community in leadership reward schemes.
Key achievements to date
- Leadership academies running successfully in all 4 Upper Schools.
- Health education delivered in 4 upper schools.
- Coaching opportunities offered to all students in upper schools.
- Current training methods for play leaders in lower schools evaluated.
- New training scheme for play leaders designed in collaboration with other Partnerships.
- Sports Leaders and Young Leaders assisted at all Partnership festivals along with pre festival training delivered.
- 'Leader of the festival' award introduced.
- Leadership Ladder of opportunity produced and delivered to all schools.
- Liaison with Extended Services team to promote sustainability of activity.
