Bedfordshire Structure

Bedfordshire will be rolling out a programme of competitive sport across all age groups which will culminate in two large festivals of sport, one in March (based in Bedford) and one in July (based in Luton).

The county has 6 School Games Organisers who are working alongside Team Beds & Luton, National Governing Bodies, Local Authorities and schools to develop programmes that are both inclusive and a real showcase for Bedfordshire sport.

Level 1 and 2 of the Games will be delivered and developed by the School Games Organisers. They will be linking in with current competition structures within the county and where there are areas of need, developing new programmes to involve more young people in competitive sport.

The Level 3 Games will be delivered by the Local Organising Committee (LOC). The LOC will be applying to Sport England for funds to develop the two multi sport events next year. The LOC itself is comprised of Head Teachers, Director of Specialism, Young Leaders, Local Authorities, County Sports Partnership, School Games Organisers and the University of Bedfordshire. This diverse group will play an integral role in developing high quality festivals of sport including cultural elements of music, dance, art, all reflecting the local area.
