2000 Lower School pupils go for Gold!

On the 3rd July, 38 lower schools in the Redborne School Sport Partnership took part in their first ever Olympic themed Multi Skills Festival. Each of the schools were provided with a Multi Skills pack which included The Olympic Ideal, Representative Countries, Timings for the day, Competition Elements, Equipment/ Resource List, Activity Cards and Cross Curricular Resources.

All of the events took place simultaneously for Key Stage 1 pupils in each of the schools which meant some 2000 pupils were participating in sport at the same time. Each of the events was lead by Sports Leaders from Redborne, Harlington, Wootton Upper Schools and Samuel Whitbread Community College who all received direct training from the Partnership.

Each of the schools represented an Olympic county on the day. They have all been encouraged to celebrate this country as much as possible. Examples include playing the national anthem at the start of the event, dressing in the colours represented on the nation’s flag or using the cross curricular resources provided to enhance the pupils understanding of the Olympics and relate those to their individual country.

The festivals were taking place during National School Sports Week, a programme promoted by the Youth Sport Trust. A big thank you to Davies Sports who kindly donated a £100 equipment voucher for the winning school.
