Key Steps Gymnastics Festival

The Redborne School Sport Partnership combined with Falcon Gymnastics Club held its Key Steps Gymnastics Festival on the 28th January and 4th February at Flitwick Leisure Centre.  150 pupils from 14 lower schools took part in the festivals.

There were changes to the structure of the competition this year to fit in with the County and Regional events.  KS1 pupils created a 90 second routine using a range of elements and performed a vault along a bench.  KS2 pupils demonstrated their skills in set body management and floor exercises and performed a vault off a movement table.

As well as competing in their events, the pupils were also given the opportunity to have a go on the ‘Airtrack’.  Young leaders from ParkfieldsMiddle School assisted at the festival and made sure pupils knew where they were going, encouraged them during the activities and made sure they were ready for their performance. Falcon Gymnastics Club coaches were present at the festivals to judge the competitions, and leaders from RedborneUpperSchool, who had previously attended a judging course, assisted them.

Congratulations to the winners:

28th January:    KS1 – RoecroftLowerSchool

                         KS2 – RoecroftLowerSchool

5th February:     KS1 – All Saints Lower School

                         KS2 – CranfieldLowerSchool

Scores from both festivals were compared and the overall winners were RoecroftLowerSchool.  They will be invited to go onto represent the Redborne SSP at the County Key Steps Gymnastics festival on the 11th May.  Good luck to them.
