Bedford River Festival
The team BEDS&LUTON Beach Sports Arena at this year’s 30th Anniversary Bedford River Festival was nothing short of brilliant!
The 30x20 metre man-made Beach Sports Arena (which held over 220 tonnes of imported sand!) was created in Russell Park and hosted touch Rugby, Football, Badminton and Volleyball events for both adults and children. Everyone taking part in the sports played on the giant beach, had a great time diving around in the sand, whilst hundreds of spectators watched on, excited by the action and desperate to have a go themselves!

team BEDS&LUTON also hosted a stand in the Bedford Borough Council Sports Village (sponsored by The University of Bedfordshire) where they distributed thousands of Passports to Sport with free vouchers, give-aways and the chance to win a Nintendo Wii consol! The draw for the Wii competition will take place this Friday so make sure you get your prize draw slips in and GOOD LUCK if you have already entered!
The Extreme Sports Arena (sponsored by ikan) between the river and Longholme Way also saw heaps of action, including golf trickster Geoff Swain, Urban Freestyler Tommy Baker, stunt mountain biker Andrei Burton, Free Runners and Base Jumpers!
The Majorsporty.com Watersports Arena didn't disappoint spectators either with a whole series of watersports events on display, including White Water Rafting, Wakeboarding and Canoe Polo.
