Bedford Ladies Tug of War Club

Welcome!

Bedford Ladies was founded in 1983 as a fun team connected with Debenhams plc sports day and continued from there to pull at fetes and sporting fundays. They joined the Amateur Athletics Association in 1985 and since that time Bedford ladies have had much success, culminating with England representation in European and World Championships.

1988 – represented England in Malmo, Sweden – scoring the first ever points by England Ladies, coming 4th overall.

Since 1988 Bedford Ladies have represented England indoors and outdoors internationally, both at European and World Championships, in the World games and at the United Kingdom Championships.

So far we have achieved – 18 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 9 bronze medals at National Level.

We won gold medals at the UK Tug of War Championships in 1999, 2004 and 2006 representing England.

In 2006 we were invited to Sweden to take part in a training camp and friendly competition.  We hope to be able ot repeat this in 2007 and be in the position to invite the Swedish Ladies teams over to Bedford for a return match.

The results of our competition held on 22/4/07 where we had 20 teams competing.
