Need volunteers?

Many sport organisations recognise their coaches, treasurers and helpers as valuable assets but don't always see them as 'volunteers'. Linking sport volunteering with resources by other types of voluntary groups and charities can introduce sport to new ways of working and a wider pool of volunteers.

team BEDS&LUTON are working closely with a range of partners including the University of Bedfordshire, the local Volunteer Centres, National Governing Bodies and schools to recruit the right volunteers for the opportunities available.

Volunteers can be involved in a range of tasks and roles. Below are only a few examples:

• A regular volunteer committing 1-2 hours a week to assist a coach
• An IT whiz who helps to develop the club website
• A dozen enthusiastic volunteers to help with a one-off club competition i.e. as a car-park attendant, refreshment provider or official
• A young volunteer to work with the junior section of the club

So… why not make contact with your local volunteer programmes and you could be opening the door to a wealth of valuable volunteers you didn't even know existed. The process is simple:

1. Register your club and volunteer opportunities

2. Opportunities are advertised through national volunteer databases

3. Volunteers are matched to opportunities, and referred to local sport clubs to begin volunteering
