The Sport Makers programmme matches talented and community based people, who are inspired by London 2012, with local sports clubs and organisations.
Whether you need an extra paif of hands to run an event, new leaders to run a new activity, an IT talent to help with your website, a great organisers to manage your fundraising, a coach or able administrator, Sport Makers can help!
Sport Makers will act as a focal point for sports volunteering allowing clubs and organisations to register their volunteer opportunities and recruit new enthusiasm and skills into their clubs or programmes to help your sports activity to thrive.
Locally we aim to recruit at least 700 potential volunteers, termed 'Sport Makers', across Bedfordshire and Luton - who don’t currently volunteer in sport. New volunteers will be invited to attend a FREE Sports Makers 2012 workshop and asked to volunteer for a minimum of 10 hours (which they will record online).
Ultimately, our aim is to ensure that at least half of these will continue to volunteer in sport, creating a legacy of a new wave of volunteers that will be invaluable to our local sports clubs. We hope that by creating this significant boost to our volunteer workforce, it will provide the opportunities for many more people to take part in sport.
