"My friends had been suggesting I try parkrun for a while so I decided to join them one morning. I was hooked after one visit. I went every week after and New Year's Day. I have gone on to run 50 parkrun's over my first year of being a member. I ran my first race in September 2019 which was a half marathon which I was so happy to complete. I ran a second half marathon in November 2019 where I improved my time by more than nine minutes. I am aiming to get another 50 parkrun's under my belt over the next year with more races and virtual challenges in between.

Every parkrun location I have visited has been friendly and welcoming. Since 2014 I have lost over 9 stone, nearly halving in size, greatly improving my health and giving me the ability to exercise and become the runner I am today. I don't have a typical runners shape and I am not the fastest, I am unlikely to be crossing the line first, but I will cross the finish-line and enjoy every minute of the race."
