This Girl Can Run a Marathon Again or So She Thinks!

I spent most of last year complaining about training for a marathon and how tired I was so when the opportunity arose this year to apply for a Golden Bond charity place for London Marathon I thought why not...I always liked a challenge. I was so pleased to be accepted especially as I am running for a local charity called 'Encourage.' When I told my work colleagues and friends the good news they were delighted especially after their experience last year. I think I was a delight for them (not!).

I am now in week 6 of the vigorous 16 week Asics marathon training schedule I am trying to religiously follow which is proving somewhat difficult at times. I did however manage a 10 mile training run on a blustery school night. I tend to run 8 miles on a Thursday evening so it was the usual loop out and back with a couple of extra miles added in. 10 miles for me is physically and mentally challenging especially running on your own in the pitch black after a full day at work. My partner is also training for London Marathon but he is much quicker than I am so we leave the house at the same time, high five in the middle and then see each other at the end when he opens the front door for me. This is as far as our 'training together' goes. I did have a plan but ended up running a little quicker so was pretty pleased with that. The weekend run was Watford Half Marathon...I remembered this race from last year as I used it for Milton Keynes Marathon preparation. I certainly couldn't forget the hills on this course and the long drag up to the finish. I managed to run 4 minutes quicker than last year which I certainly didn't expect but was very pleased with. Now on to the next event...I keep reminding myself that I am doing this all for a great cause and it will be worth it in the end.

If anyone would like to sponsor me and help me on my Marathon journey I would be very grateful. The link is as follows; https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Michelle-Morris2902
