"After having my 2nd baby I was keen to get fit and do something for myself, a friend who had also recently had a baby told me about buggy running, this seemed like a good solution. Once my baby was 6 months old I bought a running buggy and downloaded the couch to 5k app. I found the couch to 5k program really achievable and as I was running with the buggy and still on maternity leave I had plenty of opportunities to fit the runs in. Once I had completed the couch to 5k and got a couple of 5ks under my belt I felt ready to try a park run. My family are park runners and so I did my first Park Run at Houghton Hall with my Dad. I really enjoyed it and loved the friendly atmosphere.
I tried a couple more Park Runs with my Dad one at Rushmere (my local) and Dunstable Downs. Having spotted a couple of buggy runners at Rushmere I felt confident to give it a go with the buggy and continued to attend Rushmere for most of the Summer with the buggy. I found my fellow runners and the marshalls to be very encouraging and supportive. As we came into Autumn/Winter Rushmere got too muddy for the buggy but I continued to attend most weeks by myself. I find it a great way to set you up the weekend. Park run has helped to improve my confidence in running and now I am keen to do more events and possibly a 10k!"
