What is the CAN?
The Luton CAN provides expert and bespoke networking, funding and education opportunities and advice to help build physical activity businesses and projects that take place in local communities. Perhaps you run a yoga class in Lewsey, a basketball club in Biscot or an arts and crafts workshop in Stopsley? If you run any kind of community activity, then joining the Luton CAN, which is free, can help with:
- Building your business or project
- Funding advice and guidance for your activity
- Networking with other groups
- Sharing ideas
The CAN aims to support Luton's communities to get active. We encourage you to use the Luton Directory as the primary way to promote events and activities. It's free of charge, and our ward community activity pages point there so you'll attract extra interest by being listed. To find out more and to get involved, come to one of our meetings. A company or organisation can apply for up to £500 towards a community based physical activity project that fits in with Luton key outcomes as detailed on page 3. Details of what can and can't be funded can also be found on page 3.
There will be three funding rounds per year, with the deadline dates for applications as follows:-
- 30 October 2018
- 31 December 2018
- 31 March 2019
Funding decisions will be made within one month of the deadline date and communicated to applicants within that time period.
In order to ensure that the fund has the longevity we hope for, a robust yet realistic feedback process is required. This will enable us to accurately assess the impact of the fund and ensure the project lead financially accountable for the funds received has the appropriate information and evidence base to demonstrate value for money for the fund. We will make this process as simple and straightforward as possible by asking just a few questions and requesting a small amount of financial information.
