Funding Update …. Support with your funding bids and help with fundraising

Many of you will be aware that Sport England have opened up new funding schemes to support implementation of their new strategy 'towards an active nation'. These include a number of themed funding opportunities to support delivery and infrastructure for specific sectors of the community, together with a new facilities based fund, which we highlighted within our last newsletter, called the Community Asset Fund.

In addition, many of the existing revenue based support funds for clubs, societies and community groups including Sport England's small grants fund, awards for all and a number of Bedfordshire based family trusts remain open as usual.

There are, therefore, a significant number of opportunities available to your organisation to secure additional funding and investment, for a wide range of purposes. We appreciate that this can appear complex and difficult. We have therefore put in place support services to help you and your organisation choose the most suitable funds to apply for, and have the best chance of being successful with your application.

We have recently launched an exciting new agreement with Funding 4 Sport to help fund sport and physical activity in our local Luton and Bedford community. Funding4Sport write funding bids for organisations on a 'no win, no fee' basis and have an 85% success rate! They write funding bids for community groups, schools and sports clubs for both capital and revenue based projects.

Sports clubs and community groups have the opportunity for a free consultation with Funding 4 Sport. We will shortly be organising a new workshop at which they will provide a series of 45 minute slots from 12 noon through until 9pm at a central location in Bedfordshire. Please contact Graham Simpson at teamBEDS&LUTON if you would be interested in accessing this service by emailing graham@teambedsandluton.co.uk. If you would like to know more about this service and the additional support provided directly through us please go to http://www.teambedsandluton.co.uk/fundingsupport

Many funders are now looking for applicants to have raised their own funds towards the cost of the project for which they are applying. This could be as much as 50% of the total project cost. Some will already have these funds available but many will not.

Raising your own funds is therefore increasingly important. Crowdfunding can play a major part in the process and we can help with this. teamBEDS&LUTON has partnered up with registered charity Podium Partners to launch and deliver the Bedfordshire sporting communities own crowdfunding website. The website will help talented athletes in Bedford and Luton, athletes with a disability, local sports clubs, organisations or sporting initiatives to help get much needed community funding.

Podium Partners is the only crowd funding organisation dedicated to sport. Because of its charitable status, working with Podium Partners means that we can claim gift aid on all donations made by UK taxpayers. This is worth an additional 20p for each £1 gifted on eligible donations

What is crowd funding?

Crowd funding is a way of attracting lots of small donations from a wide variety of people through promoting the project, person or club on the internet.

Who can apply?

You could be a young athlete needing help with training costs, a disabled football team looking for funds for new equipment, a school initiative trying to get more girls playing sport, or a Sportivate or Satellite club programme.
