SALTO Gymnastics Club makes £50,000 investment for new floor and apparatus

SALTO Gymnastics Club, Luton, is celebrating 15 years since opening the SALTO Centre in 2004. To mark this anniversary, they are investing over £50,000 in a new sprung performance floor, a new tumble track and other key pieces of apparatus.

This investment has been made possible by securing a £15,000 grant from Sport England, under its Community Asset Fund Programme and through the generous support from the Wixamtree Trust which awarded £10,000. These grants together with other generous grants and donations, have been combined with the magnificent fund-raising efforts of its own members.

The continuing investment in the SALTO Centre will ensure that it is one of the finest Gymnastics Facilities in the East Region and enable SALTO to further its charitable objectives. SALTO delivers a range of Gymnastics and other activities, 7 days a week, 50 weeks a year to over 1000 registered Members and many, many more users of Drop in sessions, Gym Camps and Birthday Parties.

The new floors were installed last week, and members were immediately bouncing high, taking advantage of the 3700 springs underneath. Then on Sunday 31st March 2019, SALTO was able to showcase the new facilities by hosting two Bedfordshire County Gymnastics Association events with 95 gymnasts, representing 4 clubs, from across the county on show and competing for the first time on this fantastic apparatus. SALTO secured 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the Women's Artistic Grades 4-6 competition and 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 8 Bronze medals in the County, General Gymnastics, Level 1 competition.

Carl Richardson, Chair, at SALTO Gymnastics Club, stated "We are grateful for the funding awards that made our funding campaign a success. This is a major investment in the future health and wellbeing for the children and young people of Luton and the surrounding towns and villages whom we serve."

Amanda Browne, General Manager, SALTO Gymnastics Club added "I am not sure who was more excited this week, the Coaches or the Gymnasts! What a rewarding week, lots of Teamwork over a considerable amount of time ensured that we as a Club could roll out the new Floors. They will benefit everyone who attends SALTO, we are immensely proud and thank everyone whole heartedly for their contributions in making the dream a reality."

Kimberly May, Coach Manager SALTO Gymnastics Club "I am beyond proud that SALTO is able to give this back to the gymnasts. From Pre-school to our Squads, what the new floors will be able to give the gymnasts training is limitless. I know all the coaches and gymnasts are excited to get back into the club and start working on the gymnasts' goals!"

Lloyd Conaway Director teamBEDS&LUTON, Active Partnership. "We provided funding application support to SALTO in order for them to successfully be granted £15,000 from Sport England towards the total cost of their new gymnastics floor. We are so thrilled that all the hard work has paid off"
