Major New Investment in Cricket Facilities for Luton

Whilst there has been very little activity during this period of lockdown we are delighted to see that the cricketing infrastructure in Luton has been further enhanced during this period through the installation of 7 non turf pitches (NTP's) at various locations across the town together with Caddington which also serves and supports the Luton cricketing community. The locations include following locations:

  1. Leagrave Park (Sundon Park)
  2. Stockwood Park, Luton LU1 4BH
  3. Lancaster Avenue Recreation Ground Lancaster Avenue, LU27AD
  4. Icknield Way Recreation Ground, Icknield Way, LU32JR
  5. Crawley Green Social Club, Crawley Green Road, Luton LU2 9AG
  6. Lutonian Cricket Club, Lower Wardown Park
  7. Caddington Cricket Club

Furthermore two dual lane artificial outdoor cricket net facilities at Upper Wardown & Lower Wardown Park have also been installed.

There will also be outdoor mobile cricket cages provided to seven other parks and school locations across the town.

This represents a significant investment into Luton cricket on behalf of the England & Wales Cricket Board and is the culmination of many months of hard work by the Cricket East team working in Luton and Luton Borough Council elected members and officers. We have been delighted to support this project and will continue to work hard on the development of Luton cricket through our relationships with Cricket East, Luton Borough Council and the clubs across the town.

We know that this investment will make a massive difference to the Luton cricketing community. We very much hope that government restrictions in relation to the virus are sufficiently eased to allow them to enjoy the facilities to their maximum before the end of this season.
