Do good and get fit at the same time with Luton's newest fitness group, GoodGym, launched on Tuesday 17th August, 6:30pm at St George's Square.
GoodGym has a unique approach to building community cohesion, promoting fitness and reducing social isolation. GoodGym members stop off on their runs to do physical tasks for community organisations and to support isolated older people with one-off tasks they can't do on their own.
GoodGym Luton will be led by Area Activator David Mansfield. David said:
"It's been a long time coming but I'm really excited to finally be able to bring GoodGym to Luton. GoodGym members will have a great time meeting other GoodGymmers and supporting local projects and the wider community. In the process they'll even get fitter!"
In addition to the weekly group, GoodGym runners will also be paired with an isolated older person and commit to a weekly social visit and/or help with one-off household tasks. The GoodGym befriending scheme has been proven to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing.
GoodGym welcomes runners of all ability and is open to everyone in Luton.
