ukctive Announces Nationwide Campaign to Recognise Unsung Primary School Staff who have Inspired Physical Activity among Schoolchildren

ukactive Kids, in partnership with Nike, have announced a nationwide campaign to recognise unsung primary school staff who have inspired physical activity among schoolchildren. The Active School Hero Award is backed by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, one of Great Britain's greatest Paralympians and Chair of ukactive and opened on 7th March for nominations. Finalists will be nominated from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and the UK winner will be announced at the ukactive Awards.

The relationship between physical activity and achievement in school is well-documented, and so this award will recognise school staff who make a real difference, not just in teaching, but by motivating, empowering, and inspiring young children to get active.

A government report revealed that many schools across the nation had reduced the amount of PE time that was made available to children and young people as a result of the negative impact caused by the pandemic.

Any adult can nominate one or more Active School Hero from Monday 7th March until Monday 11th April, just visit: http://activeschoolhero.com/nominate/
