Preventing Abuse in Positions of Trust within Sport - The Loophole has been Closed!

As a result of the NSPCC's successful 'Close the Loop' Campaign the Position of Trusts Law has been updated and extended to include sports coaches too. This now protects 16 and 17 year olds from potential abuse in sport. The latest paper has been attached which looks at the positive impacts that people in a position of trust have upon young people in sport. It also provides advice and guidance on best practice for sports club, activities and organisations.

The paper covers the following:

  • introduction
  • what is a position of trust?
  • what does the law say?
  • what can sports organisations do?
  • dealing with a concern about a possible abuse of trust
