About This Programme
Want to learn to fish? Get up and netting in no time. It's a great way to relax and spend time in the fresh air with your family. Whether you've never fished before or are getting back into it, find out more about award-winning, free Let's Fish! events.
Fishing is fun, it's good for your mind and body, and it's something the whole family can enjoy. You'll always remember the first time you caught a fish.
Each year between March and the end of October, supported by local angling clubs, The Canal and River Trust host hundreds of learn-to-fish taster events called Let's Fish! They're suitable for anyone over the age of six, adults and children alike, whether you've never fished before or are getting back into it after a break.
As the charity that helps local people to take advantage of the wellbeing benefits of being by water, The Canal and River Trust particularly look to host events in places where everyone, regardless of background or ability, can get the opportunity to enjoy a happier, healthier life.
It's your local angling club that hosts free Let's Fish! learn to fish sessions. Not only can your whole family try fishing for free, at some events, there'll be Explorers activities and canoe taster sessions too.
Everything you need to enjoy a fishing session is free on the day, such as tackle, bait, a rod licence and your fishing permit, as well as expert coaching from one of our licensed Level Two coaches.
