"I began parkrun this January when I decided to take part in the Mind Charity Red January Challenge – to be active every day for the whole month. Before this, I have been active on and off for a number of years. I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which affects all soft tissue in my body including ligaments, muscles, and organs. I can dislocate joints daily and suffer with heart and digestive complications.

Taking part in Red January was not only a way to become more active, lose weight and become more social; but also, a way of keeping my joints strong and healthy to keep on top of my conditions. In only one month, I have already lost nearly a stone, am able to runs further than I ever dreamed I would be able to and have started to build new friendships.
